Hey there! Let me take you on a little trip down memory lane and share my journey with MyShell.ai. This place has taken my rusty old coding skills and transformed them into something I’m becoming proud of again. So, grab your favorite beverage, sit back, and relax for a while. Enjoy the ride!
The Golden Ticket
Imagine this: I was knee-deep in my own bot projects, just tinkering around, when out of the blue, I get an invite to something called Learning Lab #1. All I had to do was explain what I wanted to create and why I wanted to join the lab. Seemed straightforward enough since I genuinely wanted to learn more about bot-making. Plus, there was limited space available, making it feel like a golden ticket opportunity. They offered to teach me more about bot making and even one-on-one time with mentor developers. I was really stoked for the personalized learning aspect. It felt like I had just won the lottery! I was thrilled and a bit nervous, but mostly excited about what lay ahead.

A Warm Welcome
From the moment I stepped into the MyShell.ai community, I was welcomed with open arms. Devs, creators, other students—everyone was so friendly and eager to help. It was like walking into room full of old friends.
I was very lucky to have been included as I quickly found out that the majority of my classmates were very young and skilled with bot creation and coding already. At first, I was worried, but somehow the mentors made it fun and I felt at ease very quickly. One of the coolest things about MyShell.ai is that there’s no rigid class structure or hierarchy. Everyone is on the same level, learning and growing together. It’s a refreshing change from the usual top-down approach you see in most places.
Dusting Off the Old Skills
Now, let me give you a bit of background. I had a decent coding foundation, but it was rusty—like, 20 years rusty. I hadn’t done any real coding in two decades, so I was a bit apprehensive about diving back in. The only formal coding schooling I’ve had is high school, which consisted of punch cards on a WANG, and the new Radio Shack TRS-80 personal computer. Yep, I’m talking about the late ’70s and early ’80s here. I’ve done some coding in many languages, but always was self-taught with home-brewed ideas and spaghetti-style code. I’ve always got the job done. Unfortunately, I’ve never used JSON or JavaScript. So although the logic is there, the syntax and procedures are not.

Diving into ProConfig
Enter the crash course in ProConfig. This was my first real test, and boy, was it intense! ProConfig is made up of JSON, JavaScript, and widgets. I needed help badly. Luckily, help and sharing were everywhere. The community was always ready to lend a hand, point me to the right resources, and share their own experiences. It was exactly what I needed to shake off the rust and get back into the coding groove.
Graduation Glory
I passed the Lab as a mid-tier graduate and was awarded an NFT. They say it’s worth money, maybe even a couple of grand, but I don’t care about that. What really excited me was that it allowed me to create public bots! As a surprise, all the graduates got to choose their favorite public bot, and MyShell.ai would feature it on the MyShell home page. Wow! When my Tirey the car mechanic and car helper bot hit the home page, people actually started using him. Holy chatbot, Batman! People liked my bot, and it was an experience I’ve never had before. As the chats increased, so did my points. Very exciting! I was hooked!
Magic in the ProBot Studio
After the crash course, I was thrilled to be accepted into the ProBot Studio. We had a rocky start, and it’s still a work in progress. The mods and members are top-notch, and they all feel like old friends after a short time—it’s amazing. These guys have breathed new life into these old coding bones. We are a utility-based group, at least in the studio, and everything is open source for others to see. This is not the best place for loners or recluses, as our group is very team-oriented and focused on making quality, usable bots by working together. With this group, there is no telling what we are capable of as individuals and as a team. This was where the magic really started to happen. I began working on projects that challenged me and helped me grow.
I couldn’t have done it without the support of my studio partners. They were always there to help me get my code working, point me to the right tutorials, and offer encouragement. It was like having a combination personal trainer and cheerleader. The way people are here reminds me of being young where friends did things just because. It’s that kind of camaraderie that makes you feel invincible.

This is where ProBot, and I’m sure the other studios, are in a different league! The Admins, Mods, and Studio Partners are unbelievable. My questions tend to be out there in spaghetti land, you might say. Often, they are things that are not important to anyone but me. Even so, the Studio helps find answers. I’m not suggesting that the MyShell main Discord group isn’t an awesome and incredibly helpful bunch, but it’s easy to feel like the question has no merit or something when it’s not replied to. Every question in the studio gets looked at by everyone as though it was their own, and they find answers or people with answers. The studio is more personal and just feels good. Thank you, MyShell!
Paying It Forward
Looking forward to the day my skills allow me to help others at MyShell.ai the way the community there helps me. I’m hoping it won’t be too long before I’m confident enough to be more active, but for now, I still want to learn JS! It’s a great feeling to be part of a community where everyone is eager to support each other. There’s something incredibly rewarding about paying it forward. The MyShell.ai community has given me so much, and I can’t wait to give back. Whether it’s answering questions in the forums, helping someone debug their code, or just offering a word of encouragement, I’m all in. It’s like being part of a big, supportive family.
Finding My People
My experience at MyShell.ai has been rewarding in so many ways. I didn’t come here looking for anything specific, but I found a place where I feel at home and truly welcome. It’s rare to find an online community that feels like home, but that’s exactly what MyShell.ai is for me. The people, the support, the learning opportunities—it all comes together to create something special. Initially, I came for the bots. I was intrigued by the technology and wanted to learn more. But I stayed because of the people. The community here is second to none.
Buzzing with Excitement
The atmosphere at MyShell.ai is electric. There’s a buzz of excitement and a sense of possibility that’s contagious. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to jump out of bed in the morning and get to Discord. In short, MyShell.ai is the kind of online community we all dream of but rarely find. It’s a place where you can learn, grow, and be part of something bigger than yourself.
